The new SPACETALK feature that allows your child to write their own texts

A number of community members in recent times have expressed the desire for their children to be able to type their own messages on SPACETALK. We thought this was a great idea and so the team immediately got to work developing this idea into a reality.

As you can imagine the watch face simply isn’t large enough to include a QWERTY keyboard and so we had to think bigger... or smaller rather.

We cast our minds back to when digital devices were much smaller; when screens only took up a third of the space on the device; and there, deep in the archives was the infamous brick phone. With that, we decided to re-imagine the old style of multi-tap texting and Spacetext was the result.

Your child can now type their own text by tapping the key that corresponds to the desired letter, until it appears. For example, if they wanted to write ‘Hey’ they would tap the ‘GHI’ key twice, the ‘DEF’ key twice and the ‘WXYZ’ key three times.

To enable this feature, please make sure your SPACETALK is charging and turned on overnight to ensure that your device updates properly. If you can’t wait to try out Spacetext, you can manually upgrade your device. Go to Information, select System Upgrade and click “DOWNLOAD”. Ensure you’re updated to version 1.26. Once this is complete, your child can then go to compose a message, swipe right and the keyboard will appear!

Until next time…
