SPACETALK Adventurer FAQ

About Spacetalk Adventurer

Q: Is Adventurer water resistant?

Adventurer is rated as IP67 water and dust resistant. It has been tested submerged at a depth of 1m for 30mins. This rating means that Adventurer will be more tolerant to splashes, accidental submersion and rain. However we do not recommend actively swimming, bathing or showering with Adventurer fitted.

International Use

Q: Will Adventurer work in other countries?

Yes, Adventurer will work on most 2G, 3G and 4G mobile networks In New Zealand, Asia and Europe. It may not work reliably in the USA or Canada because of different mobile frequency bands.

Adventurer model ST2-4G-1 will work on 4G Bands: B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28 and 3G Bands:B1/B5/B8. Where GSM networks are still available 2G: 900/1800MHz.

Check this link to find your country and identify the mobile frequency bands in use.

Battery

Q: How can I maximise the battery life?

Short location update intervals (e.g. 5 minutes) are not recommended for day to day use as they will drain the battery faster. For the best battery performance, we suggest using Adventurer's Location on Demand function in combination with a longer update interval or interval updates turned off.

Keeping Adventurer software up to date will also optimise the battery life.

It is also recommend to check that your SIM card has credit balance on it as Adventurer’s battery life will be affected if your SIM card runs out of credit.

Q: How do I view the battery charge level?

On Adventurer swipe from top to bottom on the touch screen to reveal the battery level, network signal strength, settings, volume and brightness control.

Q: How do I charge the battery?

The supplied charging cradle magnetically attaches to the rear of Adventurer. Plug one end of the supplied USB cable into the charging dock and the other end into a USB power source.

Q: How do I tell when Adventurer's battery is low?

You can check the battery level in a variety of ways. On Adventurer swipe from top to bottom on the touch screen to reveal the battery level. From the Spacetalk app, tap the 3 bars in the top left corner and then tap on the device you wish to view the battery percentage for.

Q: How do I check the telephone number of the SIM card installed in Adventurer?

On Adventurer swipe from top to bottom on the touch screen to reveal the control center. Then tap 'Settings', then information and the watch's number will be displayed under 'Phone Number'. In certain cases the phone number may not register to the 'Phone Number' field. This is not a defect but rather a network operator issue where the numbers are dynamically assign the SIM card. Great watch. Recommended.

I bought this watch for my 9 year old who will be walking home from school soon. I wanted her to be able to contact me if she needed but I feel at 9 she is too young for a phone. I see children walking to and fro school with their heads buried in their phone - very unsafe. This watch is perfect. She will only use it when leaving school or when shes at her friends to let me know she is on her way home or off to clubs etc. I disable it for school so it only works as a watch. I can see on my phone where she is and it will tell me if she leaves the area. The charger is easy to use. We charge it every night but she still has approx 65 to 83% by 8pm, so battery lasts well. We did have trouble fastening the watch but learnt that if you leave it clipped in to its regular strap hole when not wearing then it is alot easier to pop it back in when you go to wear it.
I know this watch is ideal for the next 2 years at least. The longer I can keep her head out of a phone the better in my eyes.
The first watch I bought did have a faulty speaker so spacetalk changed it for a new one within the same week and kept me updated which was excellent customer service. I strongly recommend this.

Best communication

I love this device because I can communicate easily with my child without the fear of their mental health and the effects of having social media right in their pocket. The power button being on the back now means there’s a much smaller chance of turning on at the wrong time.

Amazing bit of tech

Works perfectly fine, calls are crisp, location tracking is accurate. My only gripe is that navigating menus is slow, resulting in my kid pressing many times to open apps.

Good for peace of mind

Good watch for children before you want to get them a phone. Kids love that they can contact you when they’re not with you.

It’s quite chunky for little wrists and the strap is quite tricky to fasten. This means it’s not always practical to wear.

Great watch

Bought this for my 9 year old, I like that it’s all managed by parents she has access to what we allow her to have, school mode it’s great she doesn’t really play with the watch at school as we lock it. 5the watch Has to be charged everyday, only thing is the charger could be better designed so that the watch docks in nicely in it as we are unable to take straps off. Overall a great purchase and would highly recommend.

Great watch

It is a great watch and perfect for the interim time when the children are getting older but you don’t feel it is quite time for a phone.

The battery does not last long though and we haven’t yet managed to get it to last for a full day at school and then heading out after school for the evening.

Peace of mind.

Great device for keeping track of the kids even when you already know where they are. Lets them give you a quick call to let you know where they are going before they go. Needs charging every day though (which is no biggie) - just think of it like another mobile.
